There’s no denying that Hyundai’s N Division has been on a roll as of late. With the debut of the wildly popular Veloster N back in 2018, and with the recent introduction of the IONIQ 5 N, the Elantra N stands in the middle of the pack, offering track-ready performance at a reasonable price. Sure, you could go to the competition and pick up a Civic Type R or a Toyota GR Corolla. But are the insane markups and warranty horror stories really worth it? Not at all. But don’t take our word for it. With accolades such as Car and Driver’s Editor’s Choice Sport Compact Car and Best Sports Performance Car in Canada under its belt, it’s obvious that the Elantra N is deserving of its praise. So if you’re in the market, or just plain curious about all the buzz, read on as we explore what makes the Elantra N a diamond in the rough.
Performance & Fuel Economy
Under the hood, the 2025 Elantra N is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, outputting a healthy 275 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. With N Grin Shift mode engaged, that number increases to 286 horsepower for extra over taking power. We’d opt for the 8 speed automatic for the quicker 4.8 second 0-60 mph time, but for the purists, Hyundai still offers the 6-speed manual. Regarding fuel economy, the EPA rates the 6-speed Elantra N at 24 MPG combined, 21 MPG city, and 29 MPG highway, with the 8-speed delivering 23 MPG combined, 20 MPG city, and 27 MPG highway.
| Model | MSRP | Horsepower | Torque | 0-60 mph |
| 2025 Hyundai ELantra N | $33,950 | 286 | 280 | 4.8 sec |
| 2025 GR Corolla | $38,860 | 300 | 295 | 4.9 sec |
| 2025 Jetta GLI | $32,715 | 228 | 258 | 6.0 sec |
| 2024 Honda Civic Type R | $44,795 | 315 | 310 | 4.9 sec |

The Elantra N doesn’t just come with a powerful engine and good look, the vast array of performance technologies and features make it the brilliant vehicle that it is. These features include:
