The IONIQ 5 XRT, recently spotted in heavy camouflage during testing in South Korea, is Hyundai’s answer to the growing demand for EVs that can excel on and off the road. This new XRT variant promises to take the versatility and performance of the IONIQ 5 to rugged, untamed terrains.

When the IONIQ 5 first launched, it was (and still is) praised for its futuristic design and urban appeal. However, the XRT model shifts gears entirely, emphasizing durability and off-road readiness. Though camouflaged, spy shots have revealed several key changes. The front of the vehicle sports a new bumper, complete with bold red tow hooks and repositioned parking sensors, signaling an EV ready to tackle more challenging environments. Hyundai has also equipped the IONIQ 5 XRT with rugged wheels, all-terrain tires, and a new pixel LED light bar at the front ensures visibility in wooded and low-light environments.

The Return of E-Terrain mode.

Central to the IONIQ 5 XRT’s off-road prowess is the Hyundai’s E-Terrain mode, a feature that intelligently manages the distribution of power between the vehicle’s front and rear wheels.
