The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 – Overview

Hyundai’s latest addition to the EV market is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6, which is scheduled for release in the first half of 2023. It’s expected to offer three different trim levels, namely SE, SEL, and Limited, along with the option of a long-range battery pack, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. As the successor to the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 is projected to be competitively priced at around the low $40,000s, putting it in the same price range as the Tesla Model 3. Details are still scarce however, but here’s what we know so far:

Electrified Streamliner

According to Hyundai, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 was designed to embody the organic beauty of a river stone, and it’s not difficult to understand why. The vehicle’s alluring, almost seductive contours, coupled with its contemporary and futuristic design elements, create an ambiance where nature blends seamlessly with technology. The sleek design is not just for looks, however. With a 0.21 drag coefficient, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the most aerodynamic vehicle Hyundai has ever produced and one of the most aerodynamic in the automotive industry.

Range and Power

Based on the Ioniq 5 platform, the base single-motor rear wheel drive Ioniq 6 delivers 149 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Opt for the long range 77.4 kWh battery, and the performance is amped up to an impressive 225 horsepower. If you’re looking for more practicality, the dual-motor all wheel drive variants crank out an impressive 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. Impressive performance specs, but how is the range? Range Anxiety is a thing after all. No worries however, as the standard 53kWh battery will keep you on the road for 272 miles.. Charging time is also spectacular; thanks to Hyundai’s EGM-P platform, all versions of the Ioniq 6 will be compatible with 400 and 800-volt infrastructures — allowing for a 80% charge in just 18 minutes. Interior and Features

The interior of the 2023 Ioniq 6 is both minimalist and stunning, evoking the luxury and comfort of a high-end lounge. The cabin is spacious and inviting, accommodating up to five passengers with ease. Hyundai’s thoughtful use of sound-deadening materials ensures a serene driving experience for everyone, even in the loudest of traffic. Every aspect of the interior is breathtaking, but the dashboard in particular is a true masterpiece. Known as the “Modular Touchscreen Dashboard,” it seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display with a 12.3-inch digital cluster. The displays are placed on top of air ducts that wrap around the entire dashboard, creating a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.

RN22e

Teased alongside the Hyundai N74 concept, the RN22e is a functional prototype based on the Ioniq 6 that Hyundai has dubbed their “Rolling Lab”. This vehicle was created as a “proof of concept” and was made public last year, generating significant buzz among car enthusiasts worldwide. The RN22e boasts impressive performance with 557 horsepower and 546-lb feet of torque. This prototype serves as a testament to Hyundai’s belief that electric cars can be modified and tuned using their E-GMP platform. Although not in official production, we are excited to learn more from Hyundai in the coming months.
