A Much Deserved Facelift

The previous generation Sonatas don’t look bad, not at all. But I’d be lying if I said they looked amazing. Which is why this facelift is such a welcome change. Gone is the fish-like front fascia. The Hyundai Sonata now sports an all-new front fascia, with modern, almost cyberpunk styling.

The illuminated light bar also acts as a daytime running light, adding a futuristic flair to the overall design.

Engine and Performance

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata enjoys the same engine options as the 2023 model with the exception of the 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder.  The base engine, the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque and delivers 28/38 mpg.

The N-Line exclusive 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder makes a return, delivering an exhilarating 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy comes out to 23/33 mpg.

Do note that these numbers are based on the 2023 model. The 2024 Sonata’s AWD option will affect fuel economy figures.

Interior and Convenienice

Like the exterior, the interior of the 2024 Sonata is completely refreshed as well. Featuring a redesigned dashboard, steering wheel, steering column gear selector, and dual 12.3-inch displays, the interior of the 2024 Sonata looks highly sophisticated, as if taken from a high-end premium vehicle.

In terms of convenience, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. In place of where the gear selector used to be, is a center armrest that also acts as a storage container.
