2023 IONIQ 5 N: What You Need to Know

2023 Edmunds Top Rated Award Winner, 2022 People’s Car Vehicle, Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award Winner,  and Car and Driver’s 2022 EV of the Year. Just a few of the many impressive accolades the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has amassed over time. The 2023 IONIQ 5 has blown the automotive industry away with its exhilarating performance and efficiency. By all accounts, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is perfect. However, Hyundai isn’t a company to be satisfied with just “perfect”. To the joy of many Hyundai fans,  Hyundai has decided to give the N badge to the Ioniq 5; making it Hyundai’s first-ever electric N car. You heard that right. Not a cosmetic upgrade like the N-line, mind you, but a fully-fledged, race track-tuned, performance-inspired Ioniq 5.  Exact release dates are still unknown, but prototype models are currently in the testing phase. Read on to discover all that we know of the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Details so Far

Utilizing Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 5 N  has been confirmed to have standard All Wheel Drive, with the ability to go up to a blistering 600 horsepower. Changes are not limited to power, as Hyundai has added new and exciting features.
A new “Drift Mode” makes its debut with the Ioniq 5 N. As it’s name suggests, Drift Mode allows for easy drifting by automatically adjusting steering and torque distribution for each wheel.  Another new feature, allows drivers to set bias-setting for the front or rear wheels, so that depending on your preferences, the Ioniq 5 can act as a RWD, FWD, or AWD vehicle.  Features seen in previous N models, such as the Eco, Normal, Sport, and N driving modes make a return.  Whether you love it or hate it, the Ioniq 5 N can emit gas-inspired noises and has settings that allow for simulated gearshifts. None of these settings actually make the Ioniq 5 N faster, but might help gas-drivers transition to EV driving.

We are excited to see more of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N! Details are still scarce, but we can estimate that the Ioniq 5 N will arrive sometime early 2024. In the meantime, check out our 2023 Ioniq 5 inventory at our Safford Hyundai Fairfax location!
